Theme: Breaking the Cycle of Corruption Through Education and Citizen Action
Corruption in Sierra Leone is not merely an isolated or individual act of misconduct; it is a deeply entrenched, systemic and intergenerational challenge that continues to undermine good governance, erode public trust and impede sustainable national development.
Women, children and young people are disproportionately affected, encountering barriers created by bribery, nepotism, favouritism and abuse of power that undermine merit, equality and social justice.
Although Sierra Leone has established anti-corruption laws, policies and institutions, community-level awareness, citizen participation and civic engagement remain insufficient.
Addressing corruption as a generational challenge requires sustained public education, ethical leadership and active citizen participation — a collective commitment to integrity, transparency, accountability and responsible citizenship across all sectors of society.
PaNBA Sierra Leone has established this initiative to coordinate Anti-Corruption Seminars and Symposia, bringing together schoolchildren, young people, women, public institutions, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to deepen understanding of corruption as a systemic and intergenerational challenge.
These engagements equip communities with the knowledge, skills and confidence to prevent, report and resist corruption, while encouraging collective action to strengthen accountability and uphold the rule of law across Sierra Leone.
