Update on current project activities
Community-level work across Bombali, Kono, Koinadugu and Karenna Districts.
Corruption has long been a major impediment to Sierra Leone's socioeconomic development. In response, PaNBA implemented the Citizens Awareness on Corruption Project in Makeni, Bombali District and Koidu, Kono District — holding community accountability meetings with MDAs, nurses, police and other stakeholders on service delivery, and running school campaigns on corruption.
Implemented in Bombali and Tonkolili Districts to strengthen transparency, accountability and community participation in environmental management and natural resource governance, addressing governance gaps that contribute to environmental degradation and weak regulatory enforcement.
Trains children on their rights and responsibilities, and provides educational support to schoolchildren across the communities PaNBA serves.
With support from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE), a pilot project was launched in four districts — Bombali, Kono, Karenna and Koinadugu — actively monitoring school administrators and teachers to ensure proper use of school subsidies and oversight of school development plans. The exercise surfaced issues including improper use of subsidies and poor conditions in school buildings, water and sanitation.
PaNBA was contracted to conduct independent monitoring of COVID-19 grant support given to vulnerable women whose income was negatively impacted by the pandemic.
Funded by individual members and advisory board members, this project addressed public examination malpractice, alongside the "Show Corruption a Red Card" campaign targeting community leaders, youth and schoolchildren to raise awareness of corruption's negative effects on national development.
Supports project beneficiaries with livelihood activities, including rice processing for the project farm in Kono District.
Advocates for women's land rights across the communities where PaNBA operates.
